Fringe Teatre Te Garage

Next month it’s curtain up on the freshest in UK Fringe Teatre at Te Garage. Te season kicks off on Saturday 6 September with Symphony, where theatre meets live gig and stand-up comedy to tell an eclectic mix of stories. Te season gains momentum with UK beat-boxing champion Grace Savage in Blind, a retelling of Goethe’s classic tale FAUST orchestrated live with a gypsy caravan of original dark folk ballad and blues songs, and ends with silent-disco-come- interactive-production Gatecrash where you become part of the performance. Tere’s lots more shows in between so check out their website for the full listings, booking open now.

Don’t just look out for the performances, Te Garage also has a range of adult fitness classes from relaxing yoga and Pilates to energetic contemporary and street styles that will more than prepare you for those impromptu dance-off moments.

09-24 August Legends Exhibition Castle Fine Art, Back of the Inns

As Te House of Love once sang, “Te Beatles and the Stones sucked the marrow out of bone, put the V in Vietnam; Te Beatles and the Stones made it good to be alone”. As we all know these two bands have been incredibly influential not only musically but also stylistically for years after they began.

Castle Fine Art in Norwich has got a very special collection of music-related art on during August. You can see some of the unique hand drawn and coloured original cels taken from Te Beatles music video ‘I Feel Fine’, created in 1964, work by John Lennon and hand written song lyrics and hand painted guitars by Ronnie Wood from the Rolling Stones. Also on show will be work by John Pasche, who designed Te Rolling Stones Tongue and Lip logo for the Sticky Fingers album. An additional bonus is some stunning photographs of Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts by Michael Donald, which have already been exhibited at Te National Portrait Gallery.

If you’re into music, art, photography or illustration then you’ve got to make it down to Castle Fine Art. You can even buy art by Ronnie Wood and John Lennon; imagine all the people admiring it in your own home! Wild horses wouldn’t drag me away from this exciting exhibition.

Lord of Te Flies Norwich Teatre Royal

We could be dancing, YEAH! Matthew Bourne’s NEW ADVENTURES company has produced some of the most successful dance theatre productions of the last 25 years including Swan Lake, Nutcracker! and last year’s Sleeping Beauty. Now they are bringing to the stage a new dance production of Lord of the Flies. Joining the professional dancers will be a group of young men aged 10 to 25 from right here in East Anglia, some of whom have never danced before. Free workshops were held over the last few months for boys who have volunteered from the area, and 120 of them will now be selected to audition for the actual show. Tis new dance version transfers the action from deserted island to deserted theatre. A group of schoolboys find themselves abandoned; with no adults around they start to make their own rules and create their own civilisation, before order breaks down and the story builds to an electrifying climax. Te Lord of the Flies is on in November this year so be sure to get your ticket now! If you want to check if there are any spaces left on the workshops in East Anglia, email LOTFNorwich@gmail.com.
