Mearns T McCaskie butchers, based in Wemyss Bay and established by the owner’s grandfather in 1935, specialises in supplying the very fi nest home-made meat products using only the best Scottish beef, lamb and pork. It works closely with the Harcus family of Quanterness farm on Orkney, who rear and fi nish grass-fed Aberdeen Angus cattle, renowned for excellent marbling, which, after careful dry ageing, produces the very best in great tasting tender meat. McCaskie has won many awards,


including 2013 Great Taste Award golds for its dry cure bacon and steak pies and this year won the diamond award for best speciality burger in Scotland and golds for its bacon and cheese burgers. Having just retained the title of West of Scotland champion for its black pudding, McCaskie is now battling for the title of Scottish champion against the four other regional winners. The winner will be named in June after judging in May, following the fi nalists being visited by a mystery shopper.
