“Essential” Spotlight The Integrative Health Center of Maine I
ntegrative Health Center of Maine is a diverse collection of practitio- ners who share a common vision: to change the future of healthcare. Sean McCloy, MD, MPH, MA (Medical Director) believes “Heal- ing only happens when patients and providers collaborate as a team, addressing the root causes of disease rather than simply covering up symp- toms with drugs.” The providers at IHCM practice true Integrative Medi- cine, combining natural and conventional treatments, lifestyle education, mind-body and biofeedback training, acupuncture, psychotherapy, massage and energy work, and whatever else patients need to get healthy and stay healthy.
Dr. McCloy notes, “Many of our practitioners joined IHCM
after working in more traditional settings and becoming frus- trated with the limitations of allopathic and conventional care. Some still accept insurance, yet we spend much more time get- ting to know our patients than typical practice models allow.” Part of what makes IHCM unique is the collaborative team
approach. Practitioners discuss cases and health topics in monthly “Wellness Meetings”. Dr. McCloy feels the future of healthcare needs to be cost-effective and focused on prevention and disease reversal. He is excited that Integrative Medicine is getting the attention it deserves, and will continue to help Inte- grative Health Center of Maine lead the way in offering “whole health for the whole family.”

What makes you the experts?
We do a lot of research. In most cases, my husband (and business partner) and I visit the factories to ensure the mattress- es meet our standards. This really is our passion.
