Alexander Kartashov

March 2013

Alexander Kartashov of Volga-Dnepr Airlines’ Sales Department in Russia establishes contact with the Moscow office of Voith Hydro GmbH to discuss opportunities

to provide transportation and logistics support for the movement of giant runners (working wheels) for the modernisation of the Bratsk HydroElectric Power Station. Voith had previously been awarded a contract to manufacture and deliver runners for the plant, starting in February 2014.

At a subsequent meeting in Moscow, Volga- Dnepr is invited to prepare an offer for delivery of a runner from the Voith Hydro factory in S. Polten in Austria to Bratsk HPP.

VDA TEAMWORK

June 2013 Alexander and Vladimir

Vyshemirskiy, Head of Volga-Dnepr’s Engineering & Logistics Centre (ELC)

travel to factory in Austria to discuss technical solutions for loading and moving the runner as the dimensions and weight of the runner are critical

factors to be considered for loading into the cargo cabin on the An-124-100 freighter. The runner

weighs 73 tons, is 6 metres wide and 2.4m high. The technical meeting also considered the requirement to produce a special upper- frame for lashing of the runner inside the An-124 and during ground transportation.
