WELCOME TO ANOTHER PACKED EDITION OF CARGO SUPERMARKET FROM VOLGA-DNEPR GROUP.


In this issue we feature the latest news from Volga-Dnepr Airlines, AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC), Atran Cargo Airlines and Ruslan International, our successful An-124 joint venture with Antonov Airlines.


2014 is a milestone year for ABC as the airline celebrates the 10th anniversary of its first ever commercial flight between Beijing and Moscow. The growth in its fleet and network has continued ever since and in this issue we report AirBridgeCargo’s best ever first quarter performance and the continued expansion of its route network in Europe and North America.


We also devote much of this edition to two unique and outstanding cargo aircraft. We profile Ruslan International and the customer benefits offered by the pooling of the combined Volga- Dnepr and Antonov Airlines’ An-124-100 aircraft fleets, and we celebrate the 120th anniversary of the birth of Sergey Vladimirovich Ilyushin with a special tribute to one of Ilyushin’s greatest ever creations, the iconic IL-76.


The IL-76 is one of the most capable transport aircraft ever built and we are proud to have played an important part in safeguarding its long-term future through our involvement in the aircraft’s modernisation programme and subsequent investment in five new generation IL-76TD-90VD freighters. The glowing tributes paid to the IL-76 in this issue by leading customers of the aircraft are testimony to its unique place in the world of air cargo aviation.


Of course it’s not only aircraft that make airlines great. We are a people industry and at Volga-Dnepr we are extremely fortunate to employ and work alongside some of the most capable air transport and logistics experts in today’s market. Our ‘cargo supermarket’ concept is very much based on combining all of the skills and equipment at our disposal to always create the best solution for our customers.


This is recognised in this issue’s special case study that looks at the great team effort that went into the end-to-end


movement of a unique, outsize and heavyweight ‘runner’ to a power station in Russia.
