Cash thief jailed Drink-driver ban
AMANwho snatched money from the till atWateringbury service stationwas sent to prison for 20 months. Devon Dobson (47), of John Street, Maid-
stonewalked into the premises on October 20 and chose a drink which he took to the cash desk. But when the cashier opened the till, he snatched the money, shouting: “Don’t press any buttons, this is a robbery”. Dobson, who had previous convictions,
took £165 in notes and coins. He was recognised from CCTV and arrested on November 11. He pleaded guilty to rob- bery at Maidstone Crown Court. Det Con Ben Clatworthy said: “Dobson
only got away with £165 but caused a great deal of distress to the victim.”

NICHOLAS Weekes (37), of Townsend Road, Snodland, was given a suspended prison sentence and driving ban after an incident in a car park. Weekes denied drink driving but was sentenced to 180 days in jail, suspended for two years, and ordered to complete 200 hours community service. He was also banned from driving for four years and must take part in a drink-impaired drivers course, as well as pay £650 costs and an £80 victim surcharge. The incident happened at Pad- dlesworth Road, Snodland. Weekes drove a Vauxhall Corsa and when stopped gave a breath test of 168mg of al- cohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mg.

Kings Hill,was damaged by what is believed to have been an airgun pellet. Thieves took awallet and handbag containing car keys from a property in Priestley Drive, Larkfield. The carwas taken from the drive but later recovered. The rear window of a car parked in Simpson Road, Snodland,was damaged. The door of a property in Jerome Road, Larkfieldwas damaged, but no accesswas gained. The garage of a property in Apple Close, Snodland,was broken into and some fishing equipmentwas taken. Ahandbag and car keyswere taken from
a home in Betjeman Close, Larkfield. Awindscreenwas damaged on a vehicle parked on Snodland bypass. Gas boleswere taken from a compound
in the yard at a premises in New Hythe Lane, Larkfield. Awater bu in the garden of a property
in Holborough Road, Snodland,was damaged. Acar le in the car park of a commercial premises in New Hythe Lane, Larkfield, was scratched. The door of a garage off Saltings Road, Snodland,was damaged. Apair of trainerswere taken from a
locker in premises in New Hythe Lane, Larkfield. Asilver Ford Mondeo, registration RA04
VMV,was taken from a car park in St Benedict Road, Snodland. The window of a property in Kingfisher
Road, Larkfield,was damaged. Alorry in a layby in the Malling Road, Snodland,was broken into and a quantity of car tyres taken. Ablack moped, registration LY13 EJO,
was taken from a car park in Martin Square, Larkfield.Ablue moped parked in the same placewas also taken, but recovered.
