News Nursery impresses inspector
ASNODLANDchildren’s nursery has risen from an inadequate to a good Ofsted rating in less than a year. In June 2013, an inspector gave Clocktower Childcare the lowest grade – four – two years after itwas set up. Nowunder new management, its
latest Ofsted report said there had been a big improvement. The inspector, Mary Vandepeer,

ciently together to provide an in- teresting and stimulating range of resources and play opportunities, giving special mention to its out- door play area. Her report added: “The outdoor
area is an outstanding resource and is used all year round, providing exciting and highly stimulating play opportunities.” She said children at the nursery,
in Roberts Road, enjoyed playing, learning, being read to and making decisions for themselves.
It added that adults were used effectively to ensure children received the attention they needed and felt safe. “The self-evaluation system is
also wide reaching, ensuring there is a culture of continuous improve- ment within the nursery.” The nursery’s Sally Wingham
said: “We are thrilled with our excellent Ofsted judgment and would like to thank our staff team, children and their families for their on-going support.”

Sculptures at park
THE latest phase in the renova- tion of Cobtree Manor Estate is to open to the public. The Cobtree Manor Estate Sculpture Trail will be formally opened on April 25, when sculptor Jason Mulligan will give guests a guided tour. The sculptures – “Life of a

Maidstone Council has been
busy working on a three-phase restoration and renovation of Cobtree Manor Park, including new paths and walkways, and children’s play equipment. Work has also begun on a visi- tor centre. The park was created out of
the estate of the late Sir Charles Tyrwhitt Drake, 12-times mayor of Maidstone, who left his col- lection of carriages and land for the benefit of future genera- tions.

YOUNGSTERS from Kings Hill Primary School were among the guests in the audience at the new theatre at Gads Hill School, Higham, for a production of Bugsy Malone. Pupils from four primary schools were invited to see the show which was presented by stu- dents aged 11 to 16.

THE back door of Hadlow Cricket Club, off Common Road,was dam- aged between midnight on Tues- day, March 25 and 11.59am on Saturday, March 29. Other damage was also caused.
