High hopes for Brussels’ seafood showcase
‘Each year, we see a healthy growth in the number
of companies taking part’
performance of last year’s exposition, with 25,845 buyers and sellers in attendance, including visitors from 145 countries. A total of 1,697 exhibiting companies came from 76 countries to showcase their seafood, seafood products, equipment, and services. The total exhibitor space occupied in was 33,842 square metres, including 68 national and regional pavilions – from Albania to Yemen. ‘We are expecting another successful year. Each year, we continue to see a healthy growth in the number of com- panies participating in the exposition. Companies from all over the world find value in doing business face-to-face and in the relationships they foster in Brussels. ‘The name change is part of a rebranding and marketing initiative by Diversified Communications, producer of the event. This branding initiative unifies all Diversified events serving the global seafood industry under one recogniz- able strong brand authority. The new names also reflect the markets they serve. ‘The rebranding started last March with the Interna- tional Boston Seafood Show/Seafood Processing America,

now named Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America, and continued with Diversi- fied Communications’ autumn seafood events: the Asian Seafood Exposition in Wanchai, Hong Kong is now named Seafood Expo Asia, and Seafood Barcelona is now named Seafood Expo Southern Europe. ‘The new name Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Process- ing Global reflects the event’s positioning as the largest trade exposition serving the global seafood industry.’ As well as the two Seafood Global events themselves, Brussels also has plenty to offer away from the Expo centre itself and, indeed, this year those seeking to see the bright lights of the Belgian capital can find out more at the VisitBrussels desk, which will be located in the lobby of Hall 5. There you can learn about a variety of services – from a
shared taxi programme, making travel in the city cost-ef- fective and efficient, to hotel and restaurant reservations, entertainment bookings, on-line check-in, brochures, and more. FF
