wealth of experience on show is very impressive, espe- cially given the still youthful nature of much of the salmon sector in Scotland. And, despite the obvious consolidation that has taken place in the last two decades, it is hearten- ing to see that pioneering spirits and individual initiatives are still to be found in abundance – this issue alone in- cludes an independent smolt producer who’s building his own recirculation hatchery and a two-man band seeking to create a viable nation-wide industry from their scallop ranching initiative.


Meanwhile some of the larger companies are also mak- ing some steady advances and this issue highlights some of the best in terms of feed, containment and health. Onwards and upwards. FF
