With the 15-a-side season almost over, the 1stXV see themselves just below mid table in the RBS National League. This can be seen as a successful season having consolidated their position in the National League after having been

promoted into the top 20 of the Scottish Club scene at the beginning of the season. As we go to press, one league fixture remains, away to Kelso, which doubles as the outstanding RBS Border Cup fixture. Attention then turns to the Kings of the Sevens Series, kicking off at Gala Sevens at the beginning of April.

The 2nd XV meanwhile have performed very well over the season and have consistently been in the top four of the RBS Reserve League East 1. A couple of fixtures remain and players will look to end the season on a high. Coach Stuart Tait is leaving the Club as he moves down south due to work commitments, and the Club’s thanks go with him. Attention now turns to next season with a couple of Colts players already having moved up to the senior teams.

The main event though is just on the horizon, with the Club Sevens taking place on Sunday 27th April at the Gytes. 16 Clubs will contest the event with plenty of action on and off the pitch. First Tie kicks off at 1.30pm.

The Colts are also moving towards the end of the season, having finished their league campaign in mid table. Silverware is still a possibility though as they are due to travel to Tynedale in the Border Plate semi-final. The Colts Sevens Series also starts shortly, with Peebles hosting the opening event on the final Sunday in March.

The Under 16’s have finally benefited from games on consecutive weekends and have begun to turn the Kerfield Farm ground into a bit of a fortress, having only lost one game there, early in the season against the league winners. The 16’s are sitting third in their league and look forward to next season, with a considerable amount of their players still eligible for this age group.

Apart from the regular Saturday morning fixtures at the High School, PHS also recently hosted friends from Canada, when Brantford Collegiate Institute visited (following the high school being there last year). Games at Under 16 and Under 18 were played with the high school just edging the senior match, and the visitors prevailing in the junior match by two points. Other success at the school included the Under 15 squad lifting the George Jack South Schools Cup against Earlston. A great result for the hard work they have put in over the season.

The Piranhas (primary school ages) continue training on Sunday mornings from 10am at the Gytes, and new members are always made welcome. For up to date information on Piranhas training and fixtures, please refer to the Club website or the Peeblesshire News for details.

As ever, up to date information on all fixtures and training sessions can be found on the Club Website, Facebook Page, or Twitter @ peeblesrfc.
