Eddleston Parish Church Launches ‘A Bite and a Blether’ initiative
Eddleston Parish Church will launch a new community initiative on Wednesday 2 April. Taking place each week in Eddleston Village Hall from 11.30 am until 1.00pm, ‘A Bite and a Blether’ will provide an ideal opportunity for residents and visitors to come together for a bacon roll and a cuppa.
Session Clerk, Lorraine Mulholland, says “since the Village Shop closed a few years ago, we have heard many people saying how much they miss having somewhere where they can come together on an informal basis for a blether. We are always looking for new ways to reach out into the community and decided what better way than to invite people to get together on a weekly basis in a friendly and relaxed environment to share a simple lunch”.
On hearing of the initiative, Eddleston Primary School’s Head Teacher Shirley Bean was eager for the pupils to become involved. Shirley remarks “the older pupils are currently
working towards their Community Passports and we see this as an ideal opportunity for them to help out at the Village Hall, to get to know some of the local residents and to feel
like they are a valuable part of the community in which they live”.
Local Peebles butchers and bakers, W T S Forsyths will be supplying the bacon and the rolls thus ensuring that as well as supporting the local community, the venture will also be supporting the local economy.
‘A Bite and a Blether’ will be run by volunteers from the church and the community and a very warm welcome will be extended to all.
