50/ NOVEMBER 2013 THE RIDER

London Hunt Club Annual Thanksgiving Day Hunt The London Hunt Club held their annual Thanksgiving Day Hunt on Monday October 14, 2013. Tradi-

tions of hunting at the London Hunt date back to a military steeplechase event 1843. In recent years the Lon- don Hunt focuses on traditional English style fox hunting, with the quarry being primarily red foxes, coyotes and small game such as rabbits. The London Hunt Kennels are located north west of London and is home to the Huntmaster along with the hunt horses and hounds. The hunting hounds are a mix of English foxhounds and crossbreeds. While the regular hunt season stretches from mid-August to early December for members of the London Hunt Club, the Thanksgiving Hunt is an invitational hunt extending hunting privileges on this day to members of other hunt clubs as well as local equestrian enthusiasts interested in fox hunting. This hunt splits into two groups, the first group pursues the Huntmaster and hounds at speed and over obstacles while the second group follows along behind at a slower pace. A Winning Strategy

the emotional stress in our own lives shows up as physical ten- sion and restrictions in our bod- ies such as tight muscles, skele- ton out of alignment, neck ten- sion & headaches, creating irri- tability and physical limitations. The same occurs in our horses. The day to day emotional stress related to training, showing and management can also result in an unbalanced musculo-skeletal sys- tem in our equine athletes which can result in lameness, poor per- formance and behavioural issues,
