By Lindsey Farrell-Johnson Well the show season is now over… And

what a season it was!!!! We started our year with Extravaganza which we held the last weekend of June at the Ancaster fairgrounds. We had beauti- ful weather and a great turnout. Fred and Vera Walters and crew provided us with an amazing meal on Saturday evening. Suzanne Hardcastle made us a lovely Canada Day cake that was enjoyed by all. We met some new members and renewed our bond with old friends. Our next show was Trout Creek Fair in

They had beautiful weather for Saturday but unfortunately the weath- er made the drive home long and difficult. High- way 11 & 400 can be difficult on a normal Sunday evening but add in heavy rain and it’s not much fun. We then moved on to the Niagara Regional Exhi- bition (Welland Fair). Again the weather was more than we could ask for. Sunshine and clear skies all day. Another good turnout and we had fun cheering on our favorites for head to head poles. And then came

Ancaster Fair…. Of those who came out and showed, I can say we are a dedicated and tough bunch. I can honestly say I had never shown Showmanship in rubber boots before! There wasn’t much point in show clothes. We were dressed in raincoats, old clothes

and

layers…many layers. We showed all day with many changes in cloth- ing and proved how tough our horses were. Once the show was fin- ished, surprise, surprise, the rain stopped. By that time we were all ready to go home and warm up. We then had 2

weekends off to relax and prepare for the Thanks- giving weekend. The Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend is Norfolk County Fair. This show was BIG!!!! Our classes were large, especially the games classes. We had an excellent show even if the weather was trying our patience. And last but definitely not least was Burford

Fair. We had beautiful weather and great atten- dance. Suzanne Hardcastle graciously donated a ‘Happy Thanksgiving’ cupcake cake and coffee for lunch. I can’t thank all of our sponsors and members enough for the dedication they have. We could never have such a great organization without you!!! I would also like to take a moment to thank all the organizers of each show. You work so hard to provide us with amazing shows and you are never thanked enough. From the bottom of our hearts, Thank you!!!!! We will soon be releasing information for our

year end awards and AGM. We will be renewing our rule book so if you want to have input please

attend. I would love to see at least one representa- tive from each local saddle club and/or organiza- tion that uses our rulebook so we can hear feed- back. As soon as we have more information it will be posted on our website www.whao.org, on our facebook page and it will be emailed out to our members and all the local saddle clubs. Please try to attend! We can only focus on the issues if they are brought to us! Posted below are a few pictures of great

members having fun at Burford Fair. I would like to put together a slide show of photos from all of our shows this year so if you have any to share please

email them to me spur_me@hotmail.com.
