BANGOR MOURNS LOSS OF A GREAT ROTARIAN, GLENN ASHE
Members of the Rotary Club of Bangor were deeply saddened by the recent death of their esteemed colleague and good friend, Glenn Ashe. Glenn grew up in Donaghadee where his father was the Harbour Master.
Glenn worked as a Tax Inspector with the Inland Revenue in Manchester. Widely known in local business circles for his high principles, common-sense and integrity, Glenn retired in 1993.
He had been an active member of the Bangor Round Table and the ’41 Club’ and was held in especially high regard by members of these organisations for his wide- ranging contribution to community service, and the Citizen’s Advice Bureau. He continued in these activities as a member of the Rotary
Club of Bangor. This commitment in terms of service was matched by his stellar work as a mentor and counsellor to individual Rotary Ambassadorial Scholars.
A family man at heart, Glenn and Roberta celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 2012 and Glenn took immense pleasure and great pride in his three sons and later, his four grandchildren.
