in Sportsturf and Turfgrass Science. Having educated and trained a generation of the UK’s top Groundstaff and Greenkeepers, Myerscough College is now the UK’s top provider of Apprenticeships for the Sportsturf Industry.
Whether working in the UK, Europe, Asia or the USA, Myerscough College graduates and former apprentices are responsible for maintaining some of the world’s most prestigious sporting venues and playing surfaces, including Manchester City FC, Wimbledon All England Lawn and Tennis Club, The Belfry Golf Club, Real Madrid FC, Royal Lytham & St. Annes Golf Club, to name but a few. Industry leading names such as Neil Stubley (Wimbledon All England Lawn and Tennis Club), Lee Jackson (Manchester City) and Jonathon Calderwood (Aston Villa), have all trained with Myerscough College. Now that industry expertise is fuelling the next generation of Myerscough College sportsturf apprentices across the UK.
Myerscough’s sportsturf apprentices have received recognition at the highest level, including ‘TORO Student Greenkeeper of the Year 2012’ (Thomas Flavelle, Lingdale Golf Club) and the IOG ‘Young Groundsman of the Year’ in 2012 (Niall Hazelhurst, Bolton Wanderers FC) and 2013 (Luke Dodge, Manchester City FC).
