August 24th. I’ve done this festival annually for several years. It is a true folk roots event in rural Alabama and is very ethnic. I feel so honored that this predominately African- American event will accepts me in perform- ance presenting what is a central piece of their culture - The Blues. Go to my website, russellgulleymusic.com and see the video shot there a couple of years ago and see for your- self. Fill us in on all of the other things you have cooking right now. I realize you are a busy cat. Well, I’ll be working as part of the Alabama State Council on the Arts’ CAP Program this year, starting with an eight week residency with our local Williams Ave. Elementary School. The program will use songwriting to enhance reading comprehension for third graders. I’m very excited to be a part of this program because of the already demonstrated success in other schools that we’ve experi- enced. To be able to use my skills as a song- writer to help these kids grasp and retain the materials that they read daily is a thrill for me. Arts in education works folks, it helps kids make better grades and it helps keep ab- senteeism down. I’m still working on oral histories of Muscle

Shoals Music participants for the Alabama State Archive to preserve the heritage of Mus- cle Shoals Music. But that’s another long story.

Let’s cover that next. Sounds great. What's the best place to find you on the web? Visit Russell online at www.russellgulleymu- sic.com, and order his music in the iTunes store and at cdbaby.com. •
