THE VINE Hi gang. Well, this month we celebrate our First Anniversary!

Thank you for reading the publication and tuning in to our weekly internet radio show as well. It’s been a great first year, and we are looking forward to many more years of bringing you the best of southern music and so much more. Beginning next issue, we will be making a slight change. Because

the advertising game is a full-time task, I have decided I’d rather concentrate on the writing and creating a magazine to be proud of, rather than chasing down ads. Beginning next issue, KUZOO will become reader supported rather than advertiser supported. What does that mean, you may ask? It means any ads in the magazine will be either charitable or bartered out or in house. Or, if an advertiser seeks us out, cool. Because of the cost of servers, software and labor, we will begin

charging a small fee for the magazine. The upside? It’s 99 cents. Yep. A buck. I think the last music magazine I bought for a buck was Creem back in 1973! The system is already set up for this, as 98 per- cent of the magazines on our platform charge full price, like $4.99 and more. Did I mention ours will be 99 cents? I am also looking into subscriptions. I feel sure we will be able to offer you that option as well. As for the issue you now hold in your hand (well, or your lap top

or PC) we hope you enjoy the conversations, reviews, suggestions and hi-def photography herein. For an old-school magazine man like me, this technology is better than Oz and Willie Wonka’s Choco- late Factory all rolled into one. Please be sure to enter our First Anniversary Mystery Box Con-

test. A few lucky winners will receive the brand new Billy Eli CD (with liner notes penned by yours truly), autographed by Mr. Texas Honky Tonk his own self. One of you, however will receive an extra little something with your winning entry - a BIG OL’ BOX of music! Great new CDs, many of which were reviewed in this issue, along with a few DVDs and whatever else we can fit into the large, flat rate priority box! Just find the contest page herein and follow the simple rules. Put it this way, y’all know how much I like music. If I had ever won a box like this, I would have felt like I’d hit the lottery. So like us on Facebook, and check out the back issues for the requested quotes. Want a hint? Three of the artists are Taylor Swift, Tommy Talton and Wild Cherry - three acts you are not likely to see touring together any time soon. Thanks for reading, and please feel free to send us your thoughts,

emails and tweets. Keep it Real. Keep it Southern. Michael Buffalo Smith
