50 Watt Freight Train

This is a trio I have traveled all around the area to see perform and each show somehow manages to sur-

pass the one before, even when I never thought that could be possible. (www.reverb- nation.com/JakeHaldenwang) The Joe Davis Band hit the stage with an

explosion of electrifying guitar work by the Gibson master himself, Joe Davis. The recipi- ent of prestigious awards such as 2007 Char- lotte Music Awards' Best Hard Rock act, and 2008's Best Male Vocalist, this fiery guitarist moved between metal and swamp music with a tone that most guitarists would sell their souls for. Backed by Jeff McDonald on drums and Keith Anderson on bass guitar, Joe set the place on fire. Those in the crowd who had never had the pleasure of hearing this band live didn’t know what had just hit them. Be- sides his band, Joe has also been involved in several noteworthy projects including “The Skydog Woody Project.” Check out the JDB when they are in your area. Please be sure to wear flame-retardant clothing for your own safety. (www.thejoedavisband.com). Fiftywatt Freight Train has been around

the Charlotte area for a while but I had never managed to be in the same place as them at the same time. The band consists of Darby Adkins, (lead singer and guitarist), Kirk Christner (drums), Todd Donnelly (bass) and Thomas Dow (guitar), and tonight they hit the stage running and never slowed down. Bringing an adrenaline-charged set to an all- ages audience and keeping the crowd moving

and engaged is not a feat for amateurs, but this band pulled it off and left them all hungry for more. (www.reverbnation.com/50wat- tfreighttrain) The Michael Tracy Band out of Marshville,

NC brought us all back home. Michael Tracy, lead singer and guitarist, truly connects with his audience and makes his fans part of the show. Featuring the exceptional talent of Boo English, lead guitarist, this is a band to be reckoned with. Roey Haviv on bass guitar and Loren Bates on drums pushed the envelope during the all-original set, with songs that would impress even the harshest of critics. Their newest CD, Red Sky is now available, showcasing solid musical performances along with superb writing skills. I am sure we will be hearing a lot more from this talented quartet. •
