CLASS NOTES AND NEWS
1955 Bernard Miller was inducted into the Westchester County (N.Y.) Sports Hall of Fame in October 2012. Miller’s wrestling teams were named New York State Section 1 Champions in 1968, 1969, and 1974 and he led his teams to the championships a record of eight times. He also had section 1 runners up in 1966 and 1971. Miller estab- lished a new Westchester County wrestling record when his team remained undefeated for 43 consecutive dual meets.
1958 In December 2012, Bruce Kurtz was honored with a certificate of outstanding achievement by the Cyclonauts Bicycle Club for completing 200 consecutive Snowstorm Classic races.
1959 Andrew Dearth celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary with Alma Dearth on May 5, 2012.
1960 David Paradine (G ’61), Angelo Correale ’50, G ’51, Charles Abramson ’53, and Cliff Allen ’65 were all inducted into the Amherst Regional High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Daniel Smith and his wife Loretta Neumann recently attended a Hindu wedding in Delhi, India, as the invited guests of the parents of the groom. The wedding ceremonies lasted three days. Following the wedding, they visited the Taj Mahal in Agra, India, about 120 miles south of Delhi. En route home, they stopped for a couple days in Dubai.

Springfield College now offers dual certification in physical education and health/family and consumer sciences for elementary and secondary levels.
This dual teacher licensure program gives Springfield College students a unique advan- tage by preparing them to become teachers of physical education and health/family and consumer sciences for all grade levels in just four years.
Graduates of the program will earn a bachelor’s degree and be certified in elementary and secondary physical education and health/family and consumer sciences. Dual certi- fication across all grades will make graduates more marketable and give them a wider range of employment opportunities.
