Here is a small list of potential hazards. Your dog may like to share a couple of squares from your chocolate bar, or a slice of raisin filled Christmas cake, or perhaps the double danger of chocolate covered raisins. But just think before you act.

Statistics have shown that you are more likely to have an accident in your own home than anywhere else. The same is true of your pets. Some are obvious things that are also dangerous to us. However, others, perceivably “safe” for most people, are potentially life threatening to your pet. Many of these are often given freely by their owners, often with the best of intention, unaware of their risks.
Not an exhaustive list, but here are some common poisons that most people will have in their homes from time to time.
Slug Pellets (metaldehyde). Causes fitting within 30 minutes after eating and can ultimately lead to death if not controlled.
Anti-freeze (Ethylene glycol). Used in screen washes, engine coolant etc. Can cause kidney damage in cats and dog.
Rat Poison (warfarin). Stops blood clot’s from forming. Used in rat poisons, but is also taken by many people under a doctors prescription. Animals can exhibit uncontrolled bleeding and possible death.
Chocolate: The higher the chocolate content, the more dangerous. The effects are variable.
Raisins: Including; grapes, currents, sultana’s and wine. A yummy treat to us, potentailly fatal to your dog
Paracetamol: Pain medication commonly used by most people. Toxic to cats and dogs.

You should:- Have your own transport if you wish to offer dog walking and be available at lunchtimes Mon-Fri Have an enclosed garden if you wish to do dog boarding Be at home for most of the day if you wish to offer dog boarding
