he Student Starpack Packaging Design Awards, now in their 49th year, challenges students from a wide range of courses. Gold trophies. Silver, Bronze and Commended certificates are given at

the discretion of the judges. Sponsors are invited during the second day of judging to award their own prizes. Sponsors give a wide range of prizes which include work experience, monetary and other gifts. 

Emma Wise, Starpack Advisory Chair and Judge, Business Development, Plastique Limited “There was no shortage of excellence on display for the Student Starpack this year which boasted an impressive array of mocked up samples and accompanying design boards. The attention to

detail and quality of the student’s work could lead you to believe that some of these packs had been purchased from the store that morning. Whilst recognising and rewarding the student’s efforts, we must also thank our sponsors, who through their sponsorship and commitment to supporting this competition will encourage and enable talented students to move into industry.”

Neil Farmer, Board Member, The Packaging Society reports “The creativity and innovation was incredible.

The effort and work that had gone in to the submissions was impressive. Whether it was new packs for pizza, new shapes for Tango, innovative use of corrugated or new luxury

packs, the standards were high. I particularly liked the Smart Use of Recycled Materials for Fashion category, sponsored by Marks and Spencer. Some great ideas here and an area which we should expand on in the future. Use of recycled packaging materials for fashion is the future.”
