Involve your employees effectively through social media in order to attract talent

Subject: Talent Attraction Learning Style: Skills Development Speakers: David Rivel, PathMotion, Rob Farace, NHS Leadership Academy, Richard Waite, Grant Thornton

Whether or not to use social media to build your employer’s brand is no longer the question. It’s how to do it efficiently. In this session, you will have the chance to learn tangible skills from some of the most successful practitioners who leverage their employees through social media. You’ll hear from representatives from three innovative employers. NHS uses Facebook to allow employees to create conversations with candidates through the Career Inspiration app developed by PathMotion. Unilever allows graduates to design their social media campaigns -“use grads to attract other grads”. Grant Thornton allows employees to write blogs about their life at the company - “written by trainees for trainees.” Through their experience with these successful campaigns,

representatives will impart important principles learnt through empowering their employees. They will tackle questions on how to alleviate risks and project a consistent employers message, helping you put a human face to your employer brand as soon as you return to the office!

Personality – you can have too much of a good thing!

Subject: Talent Selection Learning Style: Thought Leadership Speakers: Dr. Richard MacKinnon, Head of Learning and Development Solutions at Talent Q

Organisations gather an enormous amount of data on graduate applicants during the assessment process, much of which focuses on their personality in the workplace. Having a template or profile against which they can be compared brings clarity and objectivity to selection decisions. However, it’s possible to have “too much of a good thing”, and employees can overplay their strengths. Graduate recruiters need to be mindful that the pursuit of the ideal applicant doesn’t lead to frustrations and development challenges once they begin work. This presentation outlines how objective assessment data can inform the development needs of new graduates, how we can use this information to avoid future performance issues and ensure emerging talent and ‘high flyers’ steer clear of career derailment.

Digital media and science working together to attract, select and convert the best

Subject: Talent Selection Learning Style: Practical Takeaways Speakers: Simone Sellar, Lead Resourcing Partner, Corporate and Support Functions at EE (the joint venture between T-Mobile and Orange), Nina Mott, Managing Consultant, Cubiks

The birth of EE created an exciting opportunity to do things differently. This was about aligning a new vision for customer experience with recruitment so that only the best people with the right qualities to fulfil the EE strategy would convert. This was a high profile launch of the new digital brand and it was vital to get the recruitment experience and process right. As part of this, EE introduced experiential online assessments combining Situational Judgement and personality items which are at the height of modern technology and incorporated a job preview for retail and contact centre roles. The challenge was one of dealing with significant volume of applicants whilst striving to deliver a positive candidate experience. We will discuss EE’s vision, drive and ambition for the project and showcase the solution. The session will also offer a fresh insight into broader talent attraction and will provide practical takeaway tips.
