EVERYONE’S A WINNER…

>>

Organisations are also finding the approach to assessment and selection that we offer here is very useful and we’re working directly now with lots of companies in providing a much more healthy selection process for their own employees.

How do you get a recruitment process that not only picks out the right people for your organisation but also benefits everyone who participates in the programme – even the ones you don’t hire, and radically increases the value of those you do take on? And all for no more than the cost of a normal recruitment process – or even a bit less? This is the sort of question tackled at The Spring Project, a not-for-profit founded by the Partners of Elemental Practice LLP, Andrew Armes, Darius Norell and Denis Burke, who form the core of its creative team. They tell us why they’ve got everyone laughing…

W

hat we’re becoming acutely aware of, and certainly from time spent working with large corporate

organisations, is the tension between individuals living with their own personal values, and the contribution that they have to bring to the organisation and the world itself, and what the organisation is trying to achieve. And what we do here is bring those things together, marry them together, in a way that makes everybody a winner. There are various ways that organisations can benefit, one way is simply to sponsor our Radical Employability training. We’ve had many organisations sponsor events because it’s a great way to generate brand awareness loyalty. Organisations have also worked with us to help meet their corporate social responsibility targets, whether it may be directly meeting an aspiration of the company to support a worthwhile community initiative or whether it’s providing some transformational volunteering opportunities for their employees. Organisations are also finding the approach to assessment and selection that we offer here is very useful and we’re working directly now with lots of companies in providing a much more healthy selection process for their own employees. This selection process has been hailed as an important innovation by its fans. Enternships CEO and Young Global Leader Rajeeb Dey, who was invited to speak on the subject at Davos 2013, adds, “We hope that other innovative companies will follow this ‘unRecruitment’ example and begin building training and skill- enhancement into their recruitment process.” Donna Miller, HR Director Europe at Enterprise Rent-A-Car said, “We helped to get The Spring Project’s inaugural AGR preconference event off the ground and saw the training in action. We decided to sponsor another day of radical employability training and hired a graduate from that day. In addition, our staff that supported and participated in the training days came back re-energised.” Claire Bettney of the Graduate Recruitment Team at The London Stock Exchange said, “Our relationship with the Spring Project began when they were invited to open London trading as part of a Business in the Community

initiative to recognise innovative social businesses. We were attracted to the Spring Project’s social mission and offered London Stock Exchange as a venue to run Radical Employability Skills Training Days. We were impressed by the effectiveness of the training and immediately saw the applicability and benefit it would have for our existing graduates. We will continue to work closely with and support the Spring Project.” Besides frequent Radical Employability events and “UnRecruitment” programmes, here at the Spring Project, volunteer unemployed, underemployed and employed people rub shoulders to work on worthy projects; getting good things done, gaining in confidence, experience and broadening their outlook. So, if your organisation wants team players switched on to creating value by working effectively with their colleagues, the Spring Project is a great place to look.

AGR CONFERENCE 2013

For the third year running the Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) is pleased to be supporting The Spring Project to deliver another of their free radical employability training days on the Sunday July 7th 2013, before the AGR Conference kicks off. In previous years this event has received exceptional feedback from everyone involved, participants and Conference delegates alike.

Over 3,000 unemployed graduates have benefitted from the Spring Project’s radical free training to date. Conference delegates have provided a wide range of support to the local unemployed graduates that attend, from group interviewing and assessment centre masterclasses to 1-2-1 coaching.

Whatever skills you have (or would like to practice), please share your time on Sunday 7th - The Spring Project would love to hear from you.

For more details of the day visit the event microsite here: http://thespringproject.wix.com/agr or to register your interest in getting involved please contact Andrew Armes at andrew@springproject.co.uk.
