The success of the Newport Half Marathon has given Newport a good ground to build on, with a successful turnout of 1,000 runners everyone has got involved and showed their support from companies to local people, all showing community spirit. This is a good example of how people can work together and this infrastructure can be used to stage future events attracting growth and investment to Newport.


There is a view that UK politicians are in a strong position to negotiate a new trade treaty with the EU just as Switzerland has done. In fact, the Swiss authorities have managed to avoid the pitfalls of being outside of the EU while maintaining good relations with their European neighbours. In terms of the impact on HardingEvans in particular, EU employment laws would be stripped away, and we expect this would lead to an increasing demand for employment law advice.


Yes I believe the horsemeat scandal will have some positive outcomes, it will help local businesses such as butchers and farmers increase their revenue, as consumers will prefer to buy local from producers they can trust. Consumers will want buy meat where they can see it is from a trusted source and where the meat origin can be clearly traced. This will give butchers a more promising future as in recent years they have struggled
