Is Wilson Kiprop the ‘King of the Half Marathon’?

Kenya is blessed with a tremendous amount of talented distance runners, in fact distance running is almost synonymous with the country and indeed they come from those east African highlands in massive quantities. Kenya has been known to domi- nate the distance events in most major championships and marathon races around the world for many decades and continue to do so with no let up.


Internally in Kenya, it is only the strong that survive with so many dominant world class athletes available to choose from and among those ranks of World Class ath- letes, is Wilson Kiprop a unique, quiet and very determined athlete who we call the “King of the half marathon” because, when healthy he has outrightly dominated those races.


In 2010 before incurring a series of injuries Wilson won the Nanning half marathon in 32
