New generation of glass PCUs
The brand new generation of the Passenger Control Unit family, developed and produced by Dornier Technologie Systems GmbH, is a capacitive touch panel which gives each seat a modern and sophisticated look. It is certified for
both Airbus and
Boeing, and is already flying in aircrafts of different
airlines. It can be considered for both retrofit and line fit programmes. Some of the many highlights are the high durability and flexibility, the robustness against scratches through the use of special hardened glass, the resistance to any kind of fluids (e.g. wine, cola and cleaning agents), and the ease of cleaning.
Carlisle acquire Thermax-Raydex
Carlisle Companies Incorporated has acquired Thermax-Raydex, a unit of Belden, Inc. of St. Louis, Missouri.
Thermax-Raydex has manufacturing facilities in Nogales, Mexico, Littleborough, UK and Fountain Valley, California. The company is a supplier to the world’s leading aerospace, avionics and electronics companies. Thermax-Raydex designs, manufactures and sells customised, high-reliability wire and cable for transmission of data and power on aircraft and defence platforms, as well as in high-end industrial equipment. The business will operate as part of Carlisle Interconnect Technologies, a global provider of specialty wire and cable and interconnect components for commercial and military aircraft, avionics systems, in-flight entertainment and communications systems. David A. Roberts, Carlisle’s Chairman, President and CEO, said: “We are excited about the acquisition of Thermax-Raydex, as the company adds capabilities and technology to strengthen our interconnect products business in very attractive aerospace and industrial sectors. Thermax-Raydex expands our product, technology and service ranges to our customers. This acquisition is consistent with our focus on higher margin, highly engineered products and is an excellent fit with Carlisle.”
New sheet for outstanding performance
SABIC will present its new LEXAN XHR 5000 sheet, designed for multi-layer window shade systems requiring advanced FST properties and opacity.
LEXAN XHR 5000 meets demanding
safety requirements and improves comfort in the cabin environment. The sheet features a high-quality appearance and enhanced room- darkening properties. Testing by an independent laboratory demonstrated that thermoformable LEXAN XHR 5000 sheet complies with the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) flammability requirements under the FAR 25.853 regulation, and smoke density and heat release requirements under the Ohio State University (OSU) 65/65 standard. This material meets the following requirements:
• Vertical burn test – FAR 25.853 (a) Appendix F Part I (60 Sec. Vertical Burn) • Heat release – (OSU 65/65) and FAR 25.853 (d) Appendix F Part IV • Smoke density – FAR 25.853 (d) Appendix F Part V • Toxicity requirements – Boeing BSS7239, Airbus ABD0031
Supplied as a white-pigmented cap layer over a black base, LEXAN XHR 5000 sheet is engineered as a robust yet lightweight substrate to be laminated with decorative films and then thermoformed.
New modular galley family
SABIC’s LEXANTM XHR 5000 Sheet
At Aircraft Interiors Expo 2013 Zodiac Premium Galleys will display its upcoming Modular Galley Family. This innovative concept consists of three main elements - Core Galleys, Add- Ons and Insert Modules.
With a sophisticated, configurable, and appealingly designed full scale model, the intention is to provide visitors a live insight into the concept.
The exhibit vividly shows how one flexible Modular Galley is set up with exchangeable Add-Ons and flexible Insert Modules. An animated film will furthermore display the roadmap of the programme. Visit Zodiac Premium Galleys at the Zodiac Aerospace Stand.
