The Backcountry News BCHC

A Message From Your New Youth Education Coordinator Co-Chairs

As Youth Coordinator Co-Chairs, we have begun planning, and we’ve set some ambitious goals:

1. Create a standard program for BCHC Youth

Groups. Units need to know what they can do with their youth groups, and that they are covered by our insurance policy.

2. Develop curriculum (similar to 4-H/Scouts/FFA) with defined goals and recognition of achievement.

3. Conduct activities for youth to participate in while attending BCHC events, as well as in their independent youth program.

4. Make youth participation and education something easy for all BCHC units to do, with the eventual goal that all units will have active youth programs.

We have begun investigating our insurance coverage, and we are researching possible youth activities that would work for BCHC. Please contact us with your youth experiences, suggestions, and ideas. We look forward to the new year of possibilities!

Sincerely,

Cathy Andrews & Jacque Murphy BCHC Youth Education Co-Chairpersons
