The Backcountry News Winter 2013 Unit News Several projects underway contribute to camps and Owl Creek Trail:


The Modoc National Forest (MNF) project to reconstruct the Owl Creek Trail in the South Warner Wilderness completed work on the remaining 4 of the 12 mile Owl Creek Trail. Trail crews completed grading, rock retaining walls, tread work, brushing and drainage during August. High Country Unit and Shasta Trinity Unit members assisted Forest Service packers by packing supplies.


MNF RAC Projects for 2012 High Grade Trail Interpretive Signing and Trail Work


The High Grade Trail is located in the Warner Mountains, east of the Buck Creek Guard Station. Trail tread work was completed by MNF Trail crews. Trail signage & interpretative signs were ordered. Kerry Davis

RAC funding was earmarked for East Creek Trail clearing this summer. An in-service agreement between Forests brought Ken Graves and crew to the MNF. They cleared portions of the trail.
