A fast 6 with David Ajala
You may recognise him from TV Shows such as Monroe, Misfits, Dr Who and The Bill or from blockbuster movies like, Dark Knight, Adulthood, Kidulthood and Payback Season. Well, in these pages HOT acting talent David Ajala takes a break from current role in the next installment of the Fast and Furious franchise Fast 6 to embody an altogether different character, that of House Of Fraser’s Next Top Model ;-)….he does it quite well me thinks. We also grabbed the opportunity to get to know David a bit better, we think you’ll agree, he’s an all round nice guy!
HM: Hi David, let’s get straight to it. How did you get into acting? I started acting in secondary school. I was the class clown with too much energy. So indirectly I was encouraged to put that energy into something productive. So I joined the Anna Scher Theatre, which is an after school Drama Theatre and continued the journey.
HM: If you didn’t become an actor, what do you think you’d be doing now? Was there a Plan B? Firstly I think that ‘Plan B’ distracts from ‘Plan A’. But if I weren’t acting I would be a musician or a businessman.
HM: You’ve also done some theatre, playing alongside Pippa Bennett-Warner and Danny Webb in ‘The Witness’. Was that your first theatre role? How was the experience? I have had the privilege of doing a lot of great Theatre. I have worked at The National Theatre, The Royal Shakespeare Company and The Almeida Theatre. The Witness at
The Royal Court was a fantastic experience, one that I hold very dear to my heart.
HM: And now you’ve only gone and landed yourself a role in Fast 6. How’s that going? I heard the same rumor! Lol. It’s going brilliantly well. The cast and crew are a great bunch and I am very happy to be part of this franchise.
HM: So does this mean you’re ditching the UK for Hollywood like some of your counterparts.. Idris, Chiwetel?? My intention, God willing, is to enjoy great success both sides of the pond. Why forsake one for the other when I could have both.
HM: Can you fill us in on your Fast 6 character or is it top secret?? And more importantly what hot rides do you get to drive/race? I can’t reveal too much as it is all hush hush, but my character IVORY is a trained, highly skilled and fearless assassin.
