Global Qualification for Global Opportunities After achieving a first class degree in mathematics from the University of Edinburgh, Kirsty Meldrum joined Santander as a finance graduate.


One of the benefits of being employed by the firm is that Kirsty is being sponsored to complete the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification which is recognised internationally.


“Throughout school maths always felt quite natural and intuitive to me,” Kirsty explains. “I did work experience in a small accountancy firm preparing


financial statements for local businesses and that opened my eyes to the reality of a career in finance. It isn’t just about number crunching.”


By undertaking the ACCA Qualification, Kirsty believes she is developing the knowledge she needs to reach the top.


The examinations cover all aspects of business management from the purely technical - such as bookkeeping and cost accounting - to the more theoretical aspects such as motivational theory and theories of risk.
