Author’s Note: I recently saw the current line-up of Point Blank perform at the Dallas International Guitar show. As the band took the stage, there was a new vibe in the build- ing housing this event as people rushed for a good place to stand near the stage, filled with anticipation for the concert they were about to see take place. People, fans, guitar players, seemed to have that excited look that something great was about to happen. Well, something happened indeed. These guys rocked. To many, it was a throwback to the memories of those arena Texas Rock
days. To others, it was a brand new band full of skilled musicians that blew the doors off the place. To me, it was both. I was excit- ed to see these guys show up, crank up, and get down with the old tunes, and the new tunes in a blue-collar skilled performance that is missed so much today in this crazy industry that thrives on the latest TV Show talent contest winners as its current stars, or Idols.
For Rusty Burns, it’s the same thing he’s been doing for five decades and it’s great that a new group of young fans can learn from him.
