candidate that most closely shares my beliefs as a Christian. I'm rather passionate about politics as well and want to see my country prosperous and blessed. When I was younger I was a liberal dem, now I'm a conservative. I am a musician but foremost I am an American.

Have you ever writ- ten or performed any Christian Rock based music that would actually be classified in that genre we know today?

I have written quite a few songs that are directed to God. He is my target audience. Some of the expres- sions are Rock, Smooth Jazz, Reggae-ish, Country, just where

ever the Spirit and melody lead me. Most of my original music is instrumental and I feel that my guitar is the vehicle to my worship instead of my voice. I just want to take my listener to the Throne Room. When they get there, it's all good.

Finally, tell us about the new record. What kind of music can we expect to hear, as in, vintage PB, heavier, bluesy?

This new record will have elements from who we've been, who we are now, and who we are going to be next. Records to me are simply a snapshot in time of where you are in your musical life and development. I feel that this record will be somewhat prolific and cover several musical styles considering the new blood in the band. With Kirk Powers on bass and Greg Hokanson on drums we can go on any musical journey we choose as they are killer musicians. John O'Daniel has got pipes

like nobody else. He can intensely scream you down or subtly massage you with a beau- tiful smooth ballad. Mouse Mayes plays everything that rock is all about, has such a wonderful tone, writes strong rocking songs and has great ideas, plus is a monster singer. Larry Telford writes great, plays great, and is a producer with good ears as well as a world class studio engineer. This band is as good as it's ever been throughout a very long career and we will continue to write songs, create music and make records until we go to our reward.

James Morse, our stage manager, and I have a ranch outside of Dallas that we are using to help give back to people as well as establish a music complex. It's called Three Creeks Ranch and is located in Point, Texas. We have a nat-

ural amphitheater there that is one of the finest feeling and sounding outdoor venues I have ever played. We are doing festivals and concerts and helping charities in the process. We have done a couple of events for Locks of Love with Music and Sports Memorabilia Auctions with all proceeds going directly to them. Our ticket price will always include two cans of food that we give to the Point Volunteer Fire Department to distribute to families in need. Having taken a lot from this world we feel that it's time for us to cowboy up and give back with as much fervency as we took. You will be playing there too Michael, and I'm really looking forward to bustin’ off a few tunes with you!

Rusty, its been an amazing interview and hearing about a long, legendary career from the hey day of arena rock in Texas to keeping the flame burning today. I really think I see a Rusty
