HOMEMADE PESTO
Pesto is so simple to make and can be amended to suit taste. If you like garlic, add a bit more, if you like parmesan, add some more. It is that simple! You can use a food processor, hand blender or pestle and mortar. The choice is yours. The recipe below uses a food processor.
33333333333333333333333333333333 STRAWBERRY & CHILLI VODKA
This present will provide serious warmth in these cold winter months! If you don't like vodka, this recipe works equally well with gin and raspberries or peaches can be used instead of strawberries. It is incredibly simple and only takes a few minutes, however we recommend leaving for at least three months before consuming. You can also re-use the original vodka bottles for your concoction!
500g strawberries 250g sugar 600ml vodka 5 teaspoons dried chilli flakes (medium heat). If using fresh chillies use 3-4 diced birdseye pods.
1 Add the strawberries, sugar and chillies to a pan and heat gently, stirring occasionally until the juice from the fruits begin to run and the sugar has completely dissolved.
2 Transfer the mixture to a glass bowl and add the vodka. Give it a stir, then cover with cling film and allow to cool.
3 Every day for four days, remove the cover and stir the mixture. 4 On the fifth day strain the mixture into a bottle, seal and store for two months in a dark cupboard.
5 Taste, adding more sugar if necessary. The vodka is ready to drink after three months. Dartmoor Chilli Farm
