PHYLLIS COURT Executive dining second to none ...

Are you looking to offer your chief executive or company directors an exquisite dining experience? Then look no further than Phyllis Court.

Thirty six year old chef, Greg Lewis, trained at five of the top-ten establishments in the world, with The French Laundry in California and El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, Spain, being his favourites. The experience gained at these restaurants enables him to create classical French and traditional English dishes to the delight of the Club’s members.

Lewis insists on only the best ingredients and over the years he has developed excellent relationships with his suppliers who know that only the highest quality fresh produce is acceptable.

Fish is Lewis’ favourite food, he believes in the low temperature cooking in water baths, using the right amount of seasoning to extract the flavour and ensuring the texture and colour is perfect. When using modern techniques he believes the integrity of the classic dishes must not be lost. The appearance on the plate is equally important and serving the right size portions, so the customer leaves after enjoying a superb meal.

Catering for the

demands of a fine dining restaurant, the Orangery, and maintaining the highest-quality standards for the large numbers in banqueting, is a daily challenge he and his experienced team enjoy.

When asked what cooking is all about? He smiles and replies “Making people happy.“

L’ortolan has a well-earned reputation for exceptional cuisine in luxurious and relaxed surroundings. Executive chef Alan Murchison has held a Michelin star at the restaurant for 10 years, and L’ortolan also boasts three AA rosettes and an AA Notable wine list.

The restaurant is set in a Grade II listed building within its own beautiful grounds. Close to the bustle of Reading yet with a foot in the Berkshire countryside, L’ortolan is a favourite destination for special occasions, weddings and business entertaining.

The menus are modern French with other European and Asian influences. Food is presented with incredible artistry and precision reflecting the passion that goes into creating every element of each dish.

Lunchtime menus start at £25 for the Two Course Du Jour. Evening and lunch diners can also choose from the A La Carte or one of the spectacular Tasting Menus (vegetarian versions available), all of which can be accompanied by a flight of wines individually selected by the sommelier.

For more adventurous diners the chef’s table seats up to four people in the heart of the kitchen where you can soak up the atmosphere during a busy service and enjoy a succession of exquisite food and wine pairings.

L’ortolan has three stunning private dining rooms with menus starting from £45 and no room hire charge, making this an affordable option for parties of eight to 22 guests, or 58 for exclusive use.
