THAMES VALLEY 250

®

When it comes to fast-growing businesses, another high achiever is Softcat, the Marlow-based software licensing and solutions business, which saw revenues increase by 50% in the last year alone, enabling it to break through the £200m barrier with a £219m turnover for the year ending July 2011.

Presenting Softcat’s managing director Martin Hellawell (pictured right) with the award for Sustained Growth, sponsored by The Business Magazine, was David Murray.

Speaking afterwards, Hellawell said: “We recruited lots of fantastic talent, focused on providing an environment where employees thrive, became obsessed with striving to deliver world class levels of customer service while continually improving everything we do.

“I think it’s incredible that we have been picked out for our performance amongst so many fantastic businesses.”

For Andrew Stanley (pictured left), managing director of Windsor- based Golfbreaks, his success was built on the very simple premise of wanting to make it as easy as possible to book a golfing holiday.

The business, started in 1998, is now Europe’s largest golf travel company, operating at destinations worldwide and judges looking for the most respected owner-managed business in the region took into account its history, growth, service and product range, together with its approach to customer service, its values and commitment to quality and innovation, alongside its support for staff and the local community.

The award was presented by by Nick Burrows, partner, company and commercial department at Blandy & Blandy, and Stanley commented: “We are thrilled to receive our award and delighted that the judges recognised our continued efforts to stick to our mantra of providing golfers and spa guests with outstanding levels of choice, value and service, whilst providing a dynamic and rewarding environment for our employees to work in.”
