Offering an a la carte menu with tempting dishes such as warm goat’s cheese and potato terrine with a beetroot dressing, and hazelnut encrusted rump of lamb with Grand Marnier sauce, Cerise Restaurant is open all day, seven days a week and is fast becoming an integral part of the eating out culture in Reading.


Described as one of the town’s “best-kept secrets“, Cerise’s informal ambience provides a relaxing place to eat and, on warm summer evenings, the chic courtyard garden, complete with beautiful waterfall feature, clever lighting and outdoor heating, is just the place to savour al fresco dining or pre-dinner drinks.


With its award-winning wine list, containing selected wines from around the world with a price range to suit all pockets, Cerise is much more than just a special occasion destination.


Complementing the restaurant’s wonderful menu is the Cerise Cocktail Bar, rapidly gaining a reputation for the best cocktails outside London – its popularity as a fabulous meeting point is such that Friday and Saturday nights have to be booked up to a month in advance for the extremely popular private alcoves.


There are well over 100 creations to choose from, many of them specially designed by the fabulous five-strong team


behind the bar, who regularly highlight their latest fantastic creations on The Forbury Hotel’s Facebook page and on twitter, an approach that the hotel finds works really well.


Many of the restaurant’s diners are regulars who appreciate the quality of the service as well as the food. The full-time waiting staff work closely with the kitchen brigade, which means they understand the provenance of the food and can recommend complementary dishes and drinks.


A coveted cocktail of the month is themed around a speciality spirit, while a series of gourmet dining nights match superlative food with drinks from some of the world’s finest suppliers.


September’s themed events will be in tandem with House of Perrier Jouet, a champagne house known for its gastronomic links, and it promises to be night to remember with pre-dinner cocktails and a five course dinner menu for just £39.50 per person.


November’s event will focus on port and cheese, a classic combination – the cheese being supplied by award-winning local cheese producer Village Maid.


For those looking for less formal dining, the chefs have produced a new terrace and bar menu, offering a mouth- watering selection of starters, main dishes and speciality sandwiches.
