FIM SPEEDWAY GRAND PRIX 2012 Friday, July 27:

THE annual pilgrimage to Gorican, just 90 kms from Zagreb, for the Croatian Speedway Grand Prix is always something to look forward to. The location, chalk and cheese from Cardiff

or Copenhagen, is delightful in its own way and so easily accessible by motorway from the capital.

Speedway Star’s Philip Rising continues his update on the Grand Prix trail as the 2012 Speedway Grand Prix Series visited, Gorican in Croatia for round 7 of this year’s SGP Series

family who operate their construction company from an adjoining site, is as good as anything speedway has to offer.

The first thing we noticed when landing from Gatwick was the heat. It had been pleasantly warm in the southeast of England throughout the week but this was different, over 30c.

Bert Harkins and I sped merrily along in our

Avis hire car and in less than an hour were checking into our small, more than adequate hotel about five minutes from the track. Half an hour later we were at the stadium in plenty of time for practice and could immediately see how grateful the hard working mechanics were for the roof that fully covers the pit area. Without it, the heat would have been unbearable.

Jason Crump walked in, seemingly without a care in the world despite his broken collarbone, which had been plated during an operation in Geneva just six days earlier.
