Week-ending AUGUST 4

HISTORY in the making as Scott Nicholls lifts an incredible SEVENTH British Championship. We bring you all the thrills and spills from a memorable Monmore night which Scott, for one, will never forget. Sadly, for other reasons, Chris Harris and Tai Woffinden will take a while to forget it, too. So, that’s the wild card for

Cardiff sorted, but who will be leading the World Championship when we get there? Well, a certain Nicki Pedersen suddenly looks ominous for current leader Greg Hancock after the Dane’s superb display in the Croatian GP – all the reports, pictures and background from that in this week’s issue, too.

The Norwich bid went public last week, we bring you some blasts from the past from a highly entertaining press conference, including five- time World Champion and Norwich legend Ove Fundin.

ET the bubbly tasted really sweet for Scott Nicholls at Monmore Green on Monday night.

A seventh British title, breaking the

record he’d previously shared with the legendary Barry Briggs.

But, what pleased Scott most was being made to fight for it, as he was in a superb Final re-run against arch-rival Chris Harris. “It wasn’t easy, which was nice. It’s always nice to win a title, but it’s nicer to work for it. “It makes it that bit more special. I had some fantastic races with Bomber –

good, hard, fair races,” said the champ. So, it’s next stop Cardiff for Nicholls, confirmed as the wild card for the British Grand Prix on August 25, but he’s cautious about renewing efforts to become a full-time GP contestant once more.

“I know how tough the Grand Prix can be and I’ll only want to go in there if I’m feeling on top of the world.

“I do have a vision to be in the GPs one day. But when that day is, I don’t know,” said Scott.
