The spread is big; raw goat cheeses from the farm next-door, herbal elixirs, salads, juicy heir- loom tomatoes coated in coarse pink salt. He is chopping with you, and his hand touches yours. You get the chills. Soon the house will be filled with more love, full bellies, and dreams spilled by the fire.

I’m a firm believer in doing some- thing for the first time at least twice; once for the rush and once more to tattoo it in our memories.

Once is just never enough, is it?

Think of the last thing you did for the first time.

Were you blindfolded and fed a sweet spoonful, unknowing of the strange taste in your mouth? Close your eyes and take another bite.

Did you cash in all of your points and fly away to a country whose language you don’t speak? Stay longer, or at least until you know how to say I’ll never forget this night for as long as I live. Fluently and from the heart.

Did you jump from the sky? Leap once more, if even into someone’s arms.

Did you midnight skinny-dip in a stranger’s pool, make-out like mad in the veggie aisle, hug a total stranger who looked like she needed one, buy two puppies and hope they fell in love?

Dare to do it all again.

This is your permanent history, graffitied on your heart.

Read it when you forget, memo- rize it if you can. And be your own inspiration for losing your virginity somehow at least once every day. And then once more after that.

Life is an endless adventure… enjoy the ride!
