Champion Agricultural Horse, exhibited by Mr J Thompson


Open Working Hunter exceeding 148cm Vicky Gibson’s Victor B, ridden by Will Murray, found favour with judges Ann Redpath and Adam Forster. The 10yo gelding, owned by Vicky since he was a 2yo, is KWPN registered by Salano and is a successful event horse qualified for a CIC*. Ridden by Vicky, he is also qualified for the British Dressage regional championships at novice level.


Native Pony Champion and Reserve Champion – Sarah Dowdeswell’s prolific Connemara winner Johns Cuckoo, winner of the Registered Pure Bred New Forest and Connemara class. Reserve – Mrs J Grant’s Highland Dunedin Rhuann, ridden by Chris Grant, (a native pony contributor to equine magazine) and the winner of the Registered Pure Bred Fells, Dales and Highlands class.


Light Horse Champion Alex Mactaggart and Mr D. Mactaggart’s Sir William John. This combination won the Small Ridden Hunter class, before standing Ridden Hunter Champion and then took the supreme accolade, the show’s coveted Light Horse Championship.


BSPS Open Intermediate Working Hunter exceeding 148cm and not exceeding 158cm – Won by Jade Thompson with Abigail Vaughan’s Park Lave V. Jade was offered the ride at the start of the season after Abigail moved to Guernsey for a new job. The combination will now contest HOYS qualifiers. Pictured with judge Pat Potter, who commented, “He is the epitome of an intermediate worker and he went brilliantly in both phases today.” Pat was making a return visit to Northumberland County 21 years after last competing there with her daughter, Kieran Horner (nee Potter) who was also kept judging and kept busy sorting strong mixed height classes.
