Puerto Escondido is adjacent to Juncalito and definitely
worth a visit. Te junction is well marked and the road into Puerto Escondido is paved. Te marina is the site of a planned resort, condominium, hotel, golf course and marina complex that has been ongoing for some time. Tis has been a very popular inexpensive overnight stay
with RVers with hot showers, laundry, a Mini Super and a restaurant called the Porto Bello Steak & Seafood House, operated by Pedro Lopez. Puerto Escondido is without a doubt the most well-
Juncalito Yellowtail.
You will not be disappointed. Tere are two well-defined fishing seasons: summer features “dorado” and species like marlin (black marlin, Atlantic blue marlin, striped marlin) and sailfish, which are ideal for the fly fishing; winter fishing features “yellowtail” (jurel) and other species that usually are deep in the sea rocks. In addition to these seasonal species, Loreto’s waters are home to other species like snapper and sea bass, which are found all year long. Te yellowtail is one of the strongest species; its season begins in November, peaks from March to April, and comes to an end in late May.
protected anchorage on the Baja, and perhaps the entire Sea of Cortez. It is actually two anchorages: the outermost, known as the “Waiting Room”, is not as well protected as the innermost harbour, but is well suited to boats that are just passing through. Te Waiting Room, named so for waiting for the high tide to enter the protected harbour, is separated from the main harbour by a narrow, shallow channel. You cannot see just how large the harbour is until you have passed through this channel, hence the name Puerto Escondido, which means “Hidden Harbour” (Name of the Yacht Club”). If you did not know you were in Baja and saw just the
facilities, administration offices and the access infrastructure you might think you were in the middle of a new marina in some major city in the USA. Tese radically overbuilt port facilities should be able to serve the needs of Puerto Escondido until the end of time. Te boatyard that can do almost any service or repair with haulouts and major engine work are available no matter what kind of boat you have.
