Travelling Back and Forth to the USA: T anks to the readers who responded

to my query about TV, phone and Internet service in the US. Anyone that has more tips, send them to me. (RVT 145 pg 16.) We plan on spending about fi ve months

in the US this winter, leaving our 5th wheel across the line, then returning home in about March. Once tax season is over, go back to the US in May and resume pulling our RV home. T e idea is to visit such places as Sedona, Grand Canyon, Crater Lake etc in early summer once the snows and cool weather have gone. Do any of you know of places where

our RV can be placed into safe, secure storage for two or three months in Texas or Arizona? Will there be any problem with US Customs by leaving our RV in the US, driving our pickup home and then returning later to get our RV? Would there be some special paperwork to fi ll out before doing this? Is there some place in Northern Washington that one can buy H&G Enterprises, (Grants Pass, Oregon) satellite dish tripod?

Our Experience of a Lifetime: We leſt Revelstoke on October the 26th

as the snow was coming down from the tops of the mountains and nearing the valley fl oor. It was time to go to NK MIP RV Park in Osoyoos, BC for our 5 month holiday. We travelled in a 1997 29-foot Triple E Commander motorhome. When we got to the RV Park there was no snow and it was warm. However, we

knew it was going to get cooler. Several RVers gave us hints on how to winterize our motorhome and area. T en they pitched in to help us get the job done. We met numerous couples, some of whom we are still in contact with aſt er our fi ve months stay. We found that most RVers have a very positive outlook on life and are like an extended family. We enjoyed many activities from Sunday

to Saturday including jam sessions on Wednesday, gospel hour on Sunday, card games, swimming (indoor pool), pot luck, and sitdown dinners. T ere was something to do every day. T e entertainment was absolutely superb. A couple named Chris and Jean were

in charge of coordinating the volunteers. T ey all did an amazing job and we thank them for this. A small group of Snowbird RVers

decorated a schooner (wagon) for a parade on November 18th

. We won! One of the fun activities we took part in

was the tree decorating at Spirit Ridge. T e decorated trees were a fundraiser for a local Osoyoos Charity. Many businesses, the NK MIP, and some RVers, each decorated a tree. T e locals voted with their donations to the tree they liked best. And while the RVers did not win the “competition”, we had a great time doing the decorating. We had Christmas Dinner with 161

people. We can’t remember when we last enjoyed such a happy time while away from our families. T e dinners were run by volunteer help from the RVers. T ere is a unique restaurant there called Suzy Q’s. It is an old fashioned diner

with fabulous food. It is just north of the Osoyoos Tourist Centre on the highway way to the US border. Valentine’s Day breakfast was attended by

106 people. A group of male RVers made a special valentine breakfast for their ladies. From ducks, to horses, to quail, you see

them around oſt en. Yes we had wind, snow (which leſt in

a few days, not like Revelstoke), beautiful sunshine and warm days. Last year in Revelstoke we had over 24 feet of snow in our backyard. T is is why we decided to come “South” for the winter. As it came time to leave in March, we had

a “Going Home” barbeque. It wasn’t good- bye; it was farewell till we meet again. From Dakota to Jackie and Sandra, we

had excellent service. T ey ran the offi ce at NK MIP. We just wanted to say a big “T ank You for everything!” We arrived back in Revelstoke with four

feet of snow leſt in areas of our backyard. When we leſt Osoyoos the golfers were out on the greens. We have already made our reservations for this coming November. Herma & Paul Daley Revelstoke BC

Satellite Portable Dish Mounts: I found another portable Satellite dish

mount system, called the Sidekick that is manufactured by Ranger Satellite Systems in Grants Pass, Oregon. We have utilized this system for many

years. What we like most is the versatility of its mounting system. T ree come to mind: tripod mount, RV ladder mount and ground mount. We mostly use the ladder mount, making it stable and secure to the RV. T eir website is www.rangersatellite.

com. Another worthwhile RV product. Ron Flack

To keep squirrels from eating your plants, sprinkle your plants with cayenne pepper.

The pepper doesn’t hurt the plant and the squirrels won’t come near it.

If you purchase a new bike for your child, place their picture inside the handlebars before placing the grips on. If the bike is stolen and later recovered, remove the grip and there is your proof who owns the bike.
