toward the Deadman Creek Rd. (Te map-book shows these roads join, but they don’t.) About 3 kms down the trail we popped out onto the road we were looking for. Te Deadman Road joins along Hwy 1, just west of Savona, and runs north along the creek about 1-2 hrs until it ends in a logging block, and this was where we were. Tere are several lakes along this road, including provincial

forestry campsites, as well as a private resort on the edge of Vidette Lake; also numerous summer cottages and hobby farms dot the landscape. Tere is Castle Rock Hoodoo Park where the edge of the mountain has washed away leaving several tall rock formations reaching for the sky. We scouted around for several hours, taking pictures, investigating small trails that headed in several directions, some had old abandoned homesteads at the end of them, others just ending in old logging blocks. Much too soon it was getting close to happy hour, so we headed back to camp for the evening. Around the campfire that night we got out the map-book and decided to go back through the 3 km trail and go east the next morning to see what was in that direction. Te following morning with the sun shining, we loaded up

Deadman Falls

and hooked up with a road running along Eakin Creek and the forestry road by the same name. Tis road comes up the valley from Barriere/Kamloops and brings people to various lakes in the area, many with private cabins, only access being by boat, snow-mobiles, and 4-wheelers. We saw lots of wildlife on this long day, including moose, deer, black bears, most heading in a different direction from us. Tis was a good thing too because our dog Cooper was real excited aſter seeing them. She certainly would have wanted to give chase if I hadn’t had her tethered on the quad beside me. As the aſternoon wore on we headed back to camp with the sun setting on the lake. We stopped and took a few pictures before slowly proceeding down the steep hill to our camp. Te next morning we moved camp down the road a few

miles to a logging landing next to the road and set up our next camping home for a few days. Around noon we headed south on our 4-wheelers searching for a trail Delle and I had ridden on years before, but was rather difficult to locate. Aſter a short period of searching, we located this trail and proceeded

the 4-wheelers, and headed south on the short trail until we came to the Deadman Creek Road. We headed east about 5 km until we came to a sign that said Deadman Creek Falls, turning right into a large puddle-filled parking area. Tere were several signs warning of dangerous areas, steep drop-offs, and hazardous trails. We could hear a loud roar of water falling and proceeded with caution on foot. Delle quickly snapped a leash on Cooper, as she didn’t want our dog to go missing over the edge of the ravine. As we approached the edge of the cliff, we saw the glorious site that was shaking the ground around us. Te Deadman Creek Falls were crashing to the valley below, a drop of about 150-200 ſt. where numerous large rocks had broken off the edge to lie covered in spray from the waterfalls. We scouted around for the perfect picture, one spot allowing us right to the edge of the top of the falls; what a breathtaking sight. We have seen many other waterfalls in the province, including the ones in Wells-Gray Park, and these falls certainly will be remembered as breathtaking in every way. We could only imagine what they would look like in the winter with ice forming aſter days and days of pouring over the edge. Aſter the cameras were put away, we headed further up the road until it ended in a logging block and only a trail remained,
