longer. Fulltiming in an RV takes some preparation and is not for everybody, so aſter the rig was ready they moved into an RV park on Vancouver Island to have the real life experience and adjust. It’s a good idea to try it close to the house rather than figuring out 4,000 miles from home that it’s not for you. It’s obviously working for them. Since June 2010 they have seen Canada all the way to the east, the US all the way south, and spent last winter in Florida. Aſter 24,000 km on the road they just

even the front axle has air bags for smooth sailing. If your rig is so long it’s hard to keep an eye on all the tires in the mirror, a tire monitoring system is really handy as you can see every single tire’s temperature and pressure (including on the trailer) on the dash. Should any of the tires need air there are air hose hookups on both sides of the truck to make it an easy task. Four outside cameras, two on the truck, two on the trailer, definitely improve safety; and the list goes on. Steve and his wife Dianne prefer boondocking rather than RV parks and they

are very well prepared for this lifestyle. Underneath the Grizzly Den are big storage areas on both sides. One side handles the generator, all the tools and spare parts; the other side is big enough to handle the boat motor. Te air hose connections are also inside – always nice and clean. I had a short chat with the very nice couple and learned that Steve retired in 2010 at the age of 55. He said there is so much to see he did not want to wait much

came back for a short visit and to finalise the sale of their house. Te fiſth wheel is parked on the BC Mainland because the whole rig is 63 feet long and would cost around 400 bucks to use the ferry. Steve handles most of the driving but do not think that Dianne doesn’t get behind the wheel. She does! She takes the truck for grocery shopping by herself, since this kind of activity is not really Steve’s cup of tea. At the time of publishing they are on the

road, fulltiming, enjoying the BC interior, Quad Club outings, and sometime in September or October will head south for the winter. For them the following phrase is really true: “Home is where you park it.” k
