#22 SCoTT STeCKly HOMETOWN: Milverton, Ontario // BIRTHDATE: March 2, 1972
SPONSORS/MAKE: Canadian Tire / Motomaster Eliminator / Sylvania / AW Millwrights / Exide Batteries / Reefer Sales / Marks Work Wearhouse / ERB Transport – Dodge Challenger
NOTABLE:With a record of three pole positions, three race victories (on the ovals at Mosport, Vernon, and Antigonish), nine top-five and ten top-ten results, Steckly reclaimed the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series crown that he had first won in 2008. In addition to looking for a title three-peat, one of Steckly’s primary goals for this year is to add to his win totals, looking to move past former champion Andrew Ranger for the overall series lead in this category.
QUOTABLE: “We’re looking for good things from this Canadian Tire Dodge this year. Everything is in place for us to make a run at back-to-back titles, but there is so much competition, we’re going to have to work for it. Andrew (Ranger) and DJ (Kennington) have already proven that they can win championships, and there are probably six or seven other guys who have a legitimate chance of grabbing one.”
#23 jeff lAPCeviCH HOMETOWN: Grimsby, Ontario // BIRTHDATE: March 8, 1970
SPONSORS/MAKE: Tim Hortons / B&J Electric / Troy Cove Marine / Springer’s Meats / Castrol / Cathcart Trucking – Dodge Challenger SRT
NOTABLE: Running just a partial schedule in 2011, Lapcevich still managed to end the season in a respectable 11th place in the overall standings. The newest mem- ber of the Dodge Crew scored four top-five and seven top-ten results in just nine starts, his best finishes (a trio of fourths) coming on the road courses of Mosport, Trois Rivieres and Montreal. With new crew chief Chris Couvillon on board, Lapcevich plans to step up his involvement for 2012, and run the full schedule.
QUOTABLE: “We haven’t done the full tour since the CASCAR days, back in 2004, but we’re going to try and make it work this year. Anytime you go to new places, you see new challenges but I think we can handle anything the new tracks can throw at us. Chris has revamped both the road course and oval cars, and has us ready to head in a new direction. We’re excited to get it going.”
#27 ANdReW RANGeR HOMETOWN: Roxton Pond, Quebec // BIRTHDATE: November 20, 1986
SPONSORS/MAKE: Dodge / GC Motorsports / CRS Trucking – Dodge Challenger SRT
NOTABLE: Running in just four events in 2011, this former two- time series champion (2007/ 09) won two of those contests, taking the checkered flags in Toronto and Montreal, and finishing in the runner-up spot at the Grand Prix of Trois Rivieres. For 2012, Ranger will focus on reclaiming the Canadian Tire Series crown for Dave Jacombs Racing while continuing to race his dirt Modified in Que- bec and searching for a ride in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
QUOTABLE: “It’s going to be an interesting year, that’s why I came back when Dave called. And it’s fun to be back. I know the team and they know me, and they know what I like in my car. There are a lot of fast drivers in this field, and a lot of Quebec drivers, so I feel right at home here.”
