eGate for greater security and efficiency

Hyundai Construction Equipment launches

9-Series excavators The Hyundai Construction Equipment India Private Ltd (HCEIPL), a subsidiary of Hyundai Heavy Industries, Korea, has launched its technologically advanced excavator series in India. The products launched under the 9-Series excavators at its Chakan plant near Pune are Robex220 and Robex140.

Growing passenger numbers represent one of the big- gest challenges for airports. The intelligent eGate solu- tion from Gunnebo reduces waiting times and personnel deployment at the same time as enhancing security. In the future, according to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the num- ber of international air travel- lers will increase annually by around five per cent. With this solution the border control takes place automatically on the basis of biometric data, thereby permitting a high passenger throughput rate.

The basis of the solution is a 44 GIREM 101

gate with doors that separate the controlled and the public zones. Before entering, pas- sengers insert their passport in a device that reads in the biometric information stored in it. The system checks the validity of the document and possible blacklists using con- trol software and a database connection.

“Together with Siemens IT Solutions and Services, we offer airport operators an intelligent solution for dealing with growing passenger num- bers”, says Albert Schürstedt, Divisional Head of Building & Infrastructure at Gunnebo.

The 9-series excavators pro- vide stability, greater digging capacity and crowd force along with advanced hydrau- lics for improved controllabil- ity and smoother operation in arduous conditions like quarries and mines. One of the unique features of the 9-Series excavator is the data download facility that enables customers to monitor pro- gress of the excavator at the site.

Dheeraj Panda, Head Market- ing and Key Account Man- agement, said, “As per our study, the 20-22 tonne class of excavators capture 80% of the Indian market share and the 14 tonne is amongst the fastest growing segment.” He further added,“This series caters to the growing need of the customers with higher technology adaptability. The new range of products has been launched in Europe and Australia and the response has been very encouraging and we are hoping to see the same in India.”
