And make no mistake here – these are homes that run into several crores and promise the home owner a tag of exclusiv- ity that is hard to match. Again it is not just in Tier 1 cities but there is a penetration in other tiers as well. GIREM speaks to industry leaders to understand more.

used to mean just a house that is centrally located, large and comfortable. A booming econ-


omy and growing incomes have meant that even the upwardly mobile middle class can now aspire for lifestyles that only the very rich enjoy decades back. The rise of the Indian middle class with higher disposable income is spurring a demand for luxury homes. Over the past few years, many successful first-generation professionals and business- men with high-income profiles have emerged, who have the desire to live in houses which match their high-flying lifestyle.
