Shopping and Eating Out
Chichester and Bognor have plenty to offer even the most dedicated of shoppers. Both Chichester and Bognor have large pedestrianised shopping precincts with an array of large high-street shops, complemented by small, independent stores and boutiques. From pubs and student-friendly chain restaurants, to intimate local coffee shops, unique eateries and global cuisine; whether you want a mid-shopping pit-stop, a break between lectures, or an evening meal - there’s an abundance of choice. In fact, even a short wander will tell you that there is more than enough variety for you to try a different cuisine every night of the week.
Nightlife
The local area offers a wide variety of places to drink, from rustic pubs to modern bars. Fancy some live music? Why not visit Chichester’s Fountain or the Chichester Inn; alternatively, there’s Bognor’s
Lamb Inn, or the ever-popular William Hardwicke. Want to spend the evening in some unusual surroundings? West’s Bar, opposite Chichester Cathedral, is a modern bar in an old church. For the complete evening in one location, head to Chichester Gate Leisure Park which features a 10-screen Cineworld cinema, a Lakeside Superbowl, several restaurants, and The Gatehouse – a JD Wetherspoon outlet. If you’re in Bognor, the Picturedrome cinema opposite the train station offers all the latest blockbusters in historic surroundings.
There are two main nightclubs in the area: Vision, which is located on Bognor Pier, and Thursdays, near Chichester. If you want to stay around our campuses for the evening, both of our SU bars run a variety of regular events: the Bognor bar is The Mack, whilst Zee Bar, on our Chichester campus, was selected as the best university campus bar in the country in this year’s Best Bar None awards scheme run by the National Union of Students.
Transport
With a range of different options available, it’s easy to get around our two locations. Our Bishop Otter Campus is located just to the north of Chichester city centre, about 20mins walk from the train station.
Chichester train station has regular trains to London Victoria, with a journey time of around 1hr 35mins. Additionally, there are regular trains to Portsmouth, Southampton and Brighton, all of which are under an hour away.
Bognor Regis Campus is located north-east of the town centre, and is about 10mins walk from the train station. Bognor train station is also on the direct London Victoria and London Bridge line (approximately 1hr 45mins).
Both of our locations are compact, which makes it easy to get around on foot, but both areas also have good bus services. For students travelling between the two campuses, there is an inter-campus bus service.
