STUDY ON THE UK’S SOUTH COAST

Universities on the UK’s South Coast offer international students an overwhelming amount of choices. In this edition we look at four of the best places to study at and why you should seriously consider the opportunities and experiences available on England’s amazing South Coast.

Brighton

Brighton is one of Britain’s liveliest towns – its bohemian, artistic and eccentric atmosphere can’t be found anywhere else in the UK. It has practically everything London has to offer a student but concentrated and set within a glorious and grand English seaside town. This South Coast town is basically a student paradise!

The town’s two universities mean that Brighton is always filled with students from all over the globe. Individualism is celebrated here and it’s known

for being a place where you’ll never be bored. The town has very strong tradition of acceptance and alternative lifestyles are celebrated. Did you know that Brighton is the first place in the UK to have a Green Member of Parliament? It’s also a picturesque town which provides traditional seaside fun against the backdrop of Regency architecture.

Brighton’s nightlife is legendary with something to cater for all tastes. From rave bars and clubs along the beachside like the Honeyclub, through to retro sixties/mod nights and comedy nights at the Komedia. The town also has a vibrant music scene with bands playing practically

every day of the week. Brighton is a centre for art and culture with galleries and theatres in abundance.

It’s also great for shopping. You’ll find all of the big chain stores in Churchill Square shopping centre. On the Lanes there is an eclectic mix of individual stores, vintage clothes boutiques, Tattoo parlors, quirky cafes and cosmopolitan restaurants, as good as any you’ll find in London’s Camden Town.

If it’s heritage you crave you can visit the Royal Pavilion, seaside fantasy palace of King George IV, built by John Nash, which combines an Indian mogul exterior with an exotic Chinese interior. Or take a look at the lifestyle of the Edwardian gentry at Preston Manor with its collections of furniture, paintings and porcelain upstairs, and the simpler surroundings of the servants’ quarters down stairs. Put simply Brighton is one of the most vibrant and exciting place to learn in the world.
