Walls Solid wall insulation

The ongoing issue of hard-to-treat walls in the UK can be overcome using Spacetherm - an ultra-thin insulation for thermal upgrades saving valuable space without altering the exterior fabric of the building.

One project that benefitted from this ultra-thin insulation was at 20 Follet Street, Tower Hamlets, London. Using innovative technologies the solid wall Victorian House in a Conservation area was upgraded with an 80% carbon emission reduction. The historic nature and context of the house, its position fronting directly onto the street and the proximity of adjacent buildings have played a key part in the selection of material and renewable technologies. This retrofit solution enables the resident to remain in occupation of the house.

Whole house modelling was undertaken using SAP in conjunction with extended SAP worksheet. AutoCAD produced plans and elevations were used to assist with visualisation and detailed design.

The A. Proctor Group Ltd supplied Spacetherm P (Spacetherm insulation bonded to Plasterboard) to this project where it was installed in the exposed walls to give a U-value of 0.23W/m2K. Spacetherm can be supplied on its own and cut to size or laminated to a number of facings to suit your

Steadmans products are top of league for leading Ulster stadium project

DuPont launches DuPont™ AirGuard® Smart, a new membrane for efficient and sustainable building solutions

To improve energy performance in buildings, DuPont has launched a new vapour control layer for optimal airtightness. Offering excellent adaptability to changes in humidity levels thanks to the widest vapour resistance span on the market (0.26 MNs/g to more than 150 MNs/g), DuPont™ AirGuard®

Smart is suitable for both

roof and wall applications. This innovative airtight membrane has been developed for new build and refurbishment projects and is specifically designed for renovating roofs from the exterior.

DuPont™ AirGuard® Smart has superior properties thanks to the extreme span of sd -

values from which allows maximum protection against structural damage. It adapts to changes in humidity levels and minimises or increases the water vapour transmission rate, as needed. It

Arresting acoustics at old Police Station

SRS Ltd’s Sonata panels have been used in a recent project to control the acoustics in a large, open hall.

The Old Police Station in Keighley has recently undergone a full refurb that has turned the bottom floor of the building into a museum documenting the changing nature of policing over the years along with a cafe. Part of the refurb included the creation of an events hall on the first floor, for use by Keighley council. The hall in question had a particularly bad echo and reverbera- tion problem due to the number of hard, acoustically reflective surfaces within the room.
